Diesel Audi RS Models?

If it really can return decent mpg figures then I have no problem with it at all.
I would buy one if I could afford one - comfortable good looking car that is good on fuel for 99% of my driving, and goes like hell for the 1% that you want it to.
I suppose it depends what the long term reliability is like too, but I imagine it will be good as the 3.0 TDI is a robust unit.

Well it says electric turbo on the side. Without reading the AC article I assume this isnt a hybrid, but some kind of electrically driven compressor or something like the electric machines they have on F1 cars currently (but are also being developed for other uses such as large HD Diesel engines). These are turbos with high speed electric motor-generators inbetween turbine and compressor wheels. Helps with transient running and they are most impressive in drop-load testing, where you whack full load on instantly. If it can do a sub 4 sec 0-60 and lashings of low down torque, I can see this as a viable option. Calling it a RS given it's performance, is a way of not having it trounce a petrol RS whilst on a S badge.

Personally I'll take the crappy sound at idle in exchange for the fuel economy without any real world performance deficit over the equivalent petrol.
