Mech snapped bolt, fixed, now exhaust blows, outcome?

I popped my wifes scooter in for a rear tyre change and MoT last week. Before removing the exhuast to take the rear tyre off they rang up and said one of the bolts would snap and wanted to check to see if I was ok to go ahead.

They changed the tyre, drilled out the snapped bolt and she passed her MoT no problems( first MoT as bike is 4 years old).

I rode the bike into london today as my other bike is being repaired, and when I got to Oxford street noticed it was blowing. Got off and the bolt they drilled out and replaced has come out and left the exhaust hanging 2-3cms lower whgilst standing still. Obviously riding along over bumps this has being moving on the journey and it has crack the manifold of the exhaust. Basically they have drill out some of the threads whilst removing the bolt.

Whats the situation per the garage ? I have rang them and they said get it back in. I am trying to see what is reasonable for them to fix. The bolt will be replaced but what should I expect in way of repair to the exhaust ?

It isn't cracked at a join but in the centre of the pipe and the exhaust comes as a whole unit.

What would you expect ? welded, patched, new pipe, nothing as it is a 4 year old slightly rusty exhaust ?

The garage haven't done anything yet so hopefully it is nothing I will have to worry about.

They should have fixed it properly, but that would obviously have cost more in time first time round.

Weld. Might not be pretty, but it doesn't sound like that's going to be a big issue.

You know what I mean, it is now in its 4th year of ownership.

I will be happy with them welding it, it is only a little 125 scooter, I am not going to get precious over it. As long as a weld is deemed acceptable by you peeps.

I would imagine they will have to tap the hole to a size larger now for the bolt which shouldn't take long either.

All looking good to have to sorted with the minimum of fuss.
