What fun/weekend car?

Hi all. May be getting a new (to me) weekend/fun car at some point in the near future. I have a budget of £6000. Requirements are as follows;

Must be rear wheel drive.

Reasonable running costs with regards to servicing and tax ect although MPG wouldn't be an issue due to low miles being covered.

Some topless action would be nice but not a requirement.

It has to live out on the street as I have no garage/drive

And, most importantly it must be good fun.

So far I have thought of the usual suspects such as;

MK2 MR2 turbo (currently own an n/a)
MK3 MR2
S2000
Maybe VX220?
BMW Z4 3.0 ( would be a bit ropey at this price though?)
BMW Z3 3.0
MX5 with forced induction

Anything else I should look at? Thanks in advance.

VX220, no brainer

Genuinely, with your budget, and out of those cars, it has to be the Mk3 MR2. You should get a fantastic one for £4000, leaving £2000 in the pot - which you won't need to spend because the Mk3 MR2 is so good.

I have looked at these in the past. You can get a good one for a lot less than £4000. They seem a bit short of leg room though? Im 6 foot.

Actually, you are very correct. I struggle, and I'm 6 foot. It's the reason I'll probably look to sell very soon, purely because of that. I've never had a problem with any other car.

Cheers. Im Assuming it would have to be a cat d VX220 in my budget though. I Would love a TVR but I would have trouble sleeping at night as it has to live on the street away from my house.

How bad is it though? Is it bearable or are you unable to walk after you have completed your journey?

Indeed but that doesn't mean much. The next week a mate picked up a straight one for £5200 though. They do pop up occasionally.

Not in anyway unbiased but go for the S2000, fun to drive, has to be driven and quick enough to not get boring any time soon.

I'm 6 foot and fit perfectly in mine. The seat could go back a few inches if needed, and I have enough headroom to wear a helmet in the car. If you look at my profile I've logged all of the running costs. It's a great car!

Oh, absolutely bearable, but just annoying. I guess I always look back at my Z4 which was perfect for me.
