Hi guys,

I want to buy a Mini Cooper S auto - been looking for about 8 weeks now and I finally found the perfect car.

HPI check comes back like this

The current plate was transferred to this vehicle on 01/08/2011
R14FLN was applied to this vehicle on 11/08/2007
This VRM has been recorded as having an outstanding finance agreement
An outstanding finance agreement was recorded on 14/10/2011 against a MINI 3 DOOR HATCH 16 COO
LS07KBO was applied to this vehicle on 26/05/2007
There are no interests recorded against LS07KBO

So I called the AA who did the check, they said everything is ok and what it means is, there used to be a private plate on the car - R14FLN, now this is on another mini cooper s, that's on finance. They checked and the car thats on finance and the car I want to buy have two different VIN numbers, confirming the finance is against a different car.

Does that sound right to you? Seems fine to me, but just checking that it's normal.

Thanks a lot!

EDIT - just to say, I altered the plates slightly for the forum, just incase the owners didn't want me posting their plates in public!

Perfectly fine, as the AA have said the finance is attached to a previous plate that was on the car not the car itself.

I might be still living in 1983 when auto's were st, but a cooper s auto ?

It's like an oxymoron or just ironic satire to me - in my mind I can hear a computer saying "Does not compute, run time error"

Why not a manual ?
