Seriously cool or seriously uncool?
Discussion
I fancy a change and was thinking about an early E90 3-series 6-pot or late W203 C-Class V6 but I've just seen this for sale locally.

It's a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria with 107,000km (the car beloved of every law enforcement agency and taxi firm in North America)! Of course, it's not going to handle like a BMW or Mercedes but it has a certain charm and I don't live in the UK, so B-road handling not a major issue for me! 4.6 V8 and RWD (never owned a V8). No more power than the BMW/Mercedes and I think they weigh close to 2 tonnes (so certainly not quicker) and being a civillian spec it looks like a comfy and very spacious place to be compared to the police-spec church pews. It's also newer than the BMW/Mercedes, a whole lot cheaper (about 2/3 of the price)with comparable kms and will probably keep on going forever with regular oil changes.
Just can't decide whether it's seriously cool or seriously uncool due to the police and taxi connotations (not that a 3-Series or C-Class are cool, they're just nice cars)! What do you think? Should I?

Here's the whole ad.

Haven't been to look at it yet or driven one (been stopped by one though)! Interior looks like pretty standard Ford i.e. no better or worse than a mk3 Mondeo for instance but probably not quite as nice a new one.
Agree with the so uncool it's almost cool tagline and no I don't look like J.W. Pepper (at least not yet), although somehow I see, he's still alive!

IMO that's just awful! It's not a coll american muscle car, or a comfortable wafty barge. IMO it adds the downsides of both, but with added plasticy-ness.
On the other side, it IS unusual so if you want to be different then great. It's just more Matt777 different than I could put on my own drive =)

I can't decide. It's not a good-looking car but then I currently drive a gold 2004 Chrysler Sebring, so most things would be a step up! BTW, why isn't it a comfortable wafty barge? On the other side, it IS unusual so if you want to be different then great. It's just more Matt777 different than I could put on my own drive =)

Wouldn't running one of these in Canada be a bit like running a Vauxhall Vectra in the UK?
ie not cool or uncool - just invisible in a clock of white goods?
In the UK it would I'd see it as so uncool it would be cool
I see what you mean. I'd say more like a Volvo T5. Most Police cars here are still Crown Vics but not the taxis in this area. They're quite rare in civillian spec and this is probably one of the last civillian-spec Crown Vics (they relaunched the Taurus here round about then). You see a few privately owned ex-police ones but they're always white or black with black steel wheels and intergalactic mileages (dirt cheap at auction I suspect) but these are very basic inside, whereas this looks more plush. You're more likely to see a Focus or a Fusion (Mondeo) then a civillian-spec Crown Vic.ie not cool or uncool - just invisible in a clock of white goods?
