Paint stripper thrown over cars parked near my office

My office is right next to a motorway junction.
Across the road is a bridge under the Motorway, as with most motorway bridges there is a rather wide pathway so inevitably cars park on there (the bridge is very close to a industrial estate where there is not enough parking).

We've just had an Email come round saying that all of the cars parked under the bridge have been damaged by (suspected) paint stripper being thrown over them. Luckily for me my car isn't one of them but I have parked there on occasion!!

What brings these people to do things like this? The cars aren't obstructing the road or in any way hindering people walking as the pathway is across the other side of the road. Disgruntled neighbour? rowdy Chav?

Vandalism stinks and is not the way to address an issue.

However, parking on the pavement also stinks and I can see why a bonkers person could resort to this.

Would it be possible to post a streetview shot of the area in question?

I thought you said cars were parking on the pavement or path?

Ok I worded it wrong, there are grassed areas at either end of the paving so its not a walkway.
Cars park on the left of the picture, walkway is on the right

Do you live in Bamber Bridge? If so you should be used to cretins by now! Although that particular spot isn't exactly the sort of place you'd expect someone to just be walking through.

Mindless vandalism, probably a disturbed adolescent expressing his anger at existence, there is no answer or cure for this, it just happens occasionally.

As you say, that area on the left isn't in anyone's way, that just looks like vandalism.

Mindless idiotic vandalism. Just be careful though that the perpetrator could easily be someone you least expect like an OAP/local that has just got irritated with them parked there and see them every day.

Also, remember that normal looking middle aged woman a few years ago got caught on camera putting that a cat in a wheelie bin so no apparent reason whatsoever? Could be a random as that!

Could it just have been some idiots driving past with a tin of it in a car and just let loose because it seemed like 'fun'

Back in 1973 my old boss had paint stripper poured all over his new three week old yellow Jensen Interceptor mk 3, whilst parked up in Manchester City centre.

Nothing new unfortunately....

If it's vandalism it's pathetic. The cars though were illegally parked. With the number of idiots out there it's best to give them no excuse at all and park legally.

Many years ago when I was in my teens there was a small car dealership near me. Interesting second hand cars - not all classics, per se, but stuff that was fairly unusual nonetheless. A mate and me often used to stop by for chats with the proprietor. One day we arrived to find that all the cars had been liberally covered in paint stripper. Our hearts sank.

I simply can't see the appeal myself and I don't think vandalism is taken anywhere near seriously enough by the powers that be. I remember my car once having over £2k of damage done by vandals yet I worked out that it was cheaper to pay out of my own pocket to have it fixed than claim on the insurance and pay the excess, and then the inflated premiums for the time it would take to build up a full NCB again, so I effectively paid three times for something that shouldn't have happened at all - Firstly, tax for the police, secondly my insurance premium, and then thirdly for the repairs myself because claiming would have cost me more in the long run. Police weren't the slightest bit interested either.
