The conversation about anti static hanging things made me think about other stupid accessories you don't see any more.

Sun strips with names on, rear window louvres, leaf spring 'assisters'.

My 'favourite' worst was the vinyl roof. What was that all about?

Sunstrips reading 'Wayno' and 'Shaz' are still the worst for me.

They're ok if they say something classy like 'Just cruising' though, right? biggrin

Actually, I'm a big fan of those. My first and second cars (both Mk1 Golfs) had them and they were great - better than the factory-fitted sunroof option on the Mk1 Golf GTi.

I had a lift out sunroof in a Fiesta, it was crap! Anything over 50MPH and you'd get deafening pressure waves going through the car which added to your sunburn! Hateful.

When I was 18 and got my first car, my Grandparents bought me a small plastic box with a magnet attached, designed to place your spare keys in and attach to the inner wheel-arch of the car so you always had a spare key.

Seemed like an utterly stupid idea to me at the time, and it still does now.
