Rear number plate

Hello all..
Just want some advice as I'm new to site,I want to install a flush fitting camera to my van & I want to drill a 30 mm hole between the numbers & letters on rear plate..do you think I would get away with this or am I gonna be pulled by police??

As long as it doesn't affect the digits I would think it's fine.
