Transporting wind turbines....A90.7.00am on a weekday...why?

7.00am peak time on the A90 going in to Aberdeen this morning and there's huge HGV's transporting wind turbines at 20mph,Why?

Who is responsible for organising the movement of slow loads like these? Is it the police, local council or the turbine company? The weather was very foggy with rain and it was rush hour going in to Aberdeen, The flow of the traffic varied irratically from 35-40mph down to 10mph, we saw two very near accidents during our 30 mile commute with drivers becoming frustrated.

Today it was sunrise at 04:18 and sunset is at 21:56, why do they need to move these large slow loads at the busiest time of day?

They may have been travelling all night.

When moving large loads over big distances, you are bound to hit rush hour somewhere I guess.

The police issue a permit to the transport company, so they must have judged a movement at that time of day would not cause any major issues.

No-one in authority in the UK cares about keeping road traffic moving. If they did, these sorts of daft things wouldn't happen and major motorways wouldn't close for hours for recovery of a flea with a slight graze.

Well if that were the case I can assure you that they got it dreadfully wrong!
