Ceramic Brakes ?

Was just wondering if they had migrated down to any cheaper models yet ?
Usually that kind of tech filters down but it still seems to be either super high end or an option on high end cars.
Obviously not on about it appearing on an Aygo or Fiesta but was thinking it would be a unique selling point for say a hot hatch or coupe, or are they still fearsomely expensive, even to manufacturers ? if so, what is so special to make them still so expensive, would have thought they would have it down to a fine art by now.
Or is it just a question of most cars, even fairly fast ones being happy on steel disks ?

No, they work fine in everyday driving as well as on track, if they are designed properly.
I've thought for some time that very small carbon ceramic brakes would be a great way to get rid of unsprung weight while still producing all the stopping power required by ordinary cars in everyday driving. However I think the cost is probably prohibitive for 95% of the cars sold.
What makes them expensive? quoting the person who did the design work to bring them in at Brembo... "The process to produce a CCM brake takes about seven days not a few hours as for cast iron, and the materials are expensive."

Yeah, they have awful initial bite when cold and operate best at high temps. Also the general public they would see no benefit. Plus the fact they're still too expensive and have a costly replacement price.Their ability to slow a car is hugely impressive and confidence-inspiring.
The cheapest model I can think of with CC brakes as an option is the new M3, although I imagine they must also be available on Cayman and Boxster. None of those cars is exactly cheap though.
