What £3k car to run for 3 months

Having sold my existing cat and my new one not arriving for 3 months I was considering buying something semi fun or interesting for the 3 month wait.

Practicality and fuel economy are not really an issue as it is for a short time. But the key thing will be something that I can sell on with minimal loss and quickly in 3 months time. No bland euro boxes, I know they be sensible option but looking to experience something different

Thoughts off top of my head were mercedes SL (if in budget) , Audi A8, Porsche 944

If it's for a couple of months, why not have a look at hiring one?
Or if not, what about a hot hatch? 206 GTI 180?

I suppose in the back of my mind is that if I can afford to and I fall in love with my purchase I may hold on to it as a second car. So the idea of a modern classic is appealing

Most things interesting may not appeal to others when it comes to selling in 3 months time, would mean time & cost insuring & taxing etc - sensible head says buy a Focus/Astra Diesel or something similar which will sell.

Another option is to buy a 4x4 now and sell in Autumn when people are looking for a winter hack.

I was about to suggest a Mk2 MR2, you'd be able to get quite a nice one for £3k I'd have thought. I loved mine, they feel really special with the cozy cabin full of leather!

As it is summer, my suggestion would be NOT to buy a cab, but a 4x4 which you may even make a bit of money on it, come sale later in the year.

My 205 GTi 1.6 has been used almost daily for the last few months and aside from some horrible individual keying it one night it has been faultless. In fact like most cars, it gets better with use. I have other cars at my disposal but unless it's really brilliant sunshine I take the 205. £3,000 will get you an excellent 1.6 or a decent 1.9, it just depends what you prefer.
