transfering number plate to new car no tax disc

sorting out my mothers number plate - the new car has no tax disc. Apparently they get sent out in the post and not with the car (car was brand new. Im filling out the v317 form to change the plate from old car to new. Can this still be done without the tax disc serial number of new car which i dont have.

As far as I'm aware form you are filling in needs to have disc info or it will just be rejected by DVLA.

Disc shouldn't be that long arriving & if form is rejected you will just wait longer to put plate on her new car.
