A warning on scam ads on ebay

I'm in the trade and the mother in law has tasked me to find a Fiat 500C Lounge for a certain price. She mails me today saying she's found a car at £6995 and can I take a look, the ebay ref number is 281354068227. I have a look, its HPI clear but it Glass's at £500 more than the asking price so already the alarm bells are ringing. The ebay site has all the spiel including an address and a post code plus a landline. I ring the landline - it doeesn't exist, the Manchester postcode brings up a load of student flats - the mobile is live though but no answer. The website http://www.escarsales.co.uk/ also exists but it doesn't take a genius to work out this is also fake. The ebay motors site shows other stock all photographed in different places and no doubt just copied and pasted from other sites. There is also a London address on the website but the postcode doesn't exist. Oh and by the way Edward Sulley, the name of the so called dealer is a coach at Man City!

The reason for posting this is just to show the length scammers will take, I reported this to Ebay at 9am yet it is still live at 6pm. I realise that most people on here are aware of things like this but you can see how it could suck someone in less aware.

Strange for a business that alleges to have premises in both Manchester and London, that the registered keeper of their domain lives in Wales. Doubt John Lamerick is his real name or that his real address is:

Also stolen his images from some other dealers websites, I'm sure www.a1sports-performance.co.uk would not be happy if they knew their images had been stolen.

This web site has been setup quite recently and I have a feeling it's due to a recent change of policy on eBay. I've heard of a few transactions now, where the buyer hasn't got their goods, but gets refunded by eBay themselves, meaning the seller keeps the cash.

I'm sure it will all come crashing down around him shortly.

I come across scam ads all the time and obvious website hack ins where all the prices are lowered and email addresses added etc but this one particularly caught my eye as it ticked quite a few of the boxes to looking half legit.

Most definitely a scam,spoke to a guy myself calling himself David,the joker was after me sending him £5500 to take a merc estate off eBay I hadn't even seen the car.
Also spoke to eBay so can't understand why he is still on there,he says his cars are so cheap because he is packing in to become a land rover franchise,has an answer for everything.
I've never known any dealer to offer twelve months tax with cars he also promises three years interest free finance with black horse I checked my credit report and no black horse had checked me out.
His cars are too cheap,he is after people panicking when they see how cheap the car is and his method is,"forward me a depo quick and il take it off eBay for you now"people will fall for it.
What an absolute joke eBay are as we'll I reported him two days ago and he is still on there.

Do people really fall for it? I mean send huge sums of dosh for motors they have never seen?

These scammers wouldn't exist if they didn't so I guess they do, I'm really surprised in this day and age.

I'm surprised this too! Paying for a car in advance online that you've never seen is dumb in my opinion...

People will not be silly enough to send huge amounts of cash to him,but let's say someone is really keen and the so called trader says"ok sir,send me five hundred depo and il end the listing for you" the buyer would be over the moon with this until he gets to the non existent showroom.
The seller could get four deposits a day from different people from £200,£300,400 and so on,that is serious days wages.
Absolute scum.

It looks genuine to start - be very easy to be duped by that.. a £100 deposit wouldn't be unreasonable to put down either

Recap:
The car is a 2010 Fiat 500 1.2 Lounge Convertible registered HW10 MXD on the pic while the Ebay info says the VIN is --59 --- . So thats fake. The seller has 0 feedback and joined about 2 weeks ago but has some how managed to rack up 15+ cars including several Ford Galaxy's, Fiat 500 TwinAir's and Volkswagen Polo's as well as the odd 350Z all with similar spec.
The website's motto is Manchester's finest car dealership and has stolen pictures from A1 Motorsport.
90 Gt. Bridgewater St is registered to EconomicSolutions.co.uk.

So overall we have a conclusion: it is fake.

That house sold for £62,000 and is situated in the middle of no where.
However John lives at Bryn Tirion which is about 200 yds away but in a better presented home with his wife (presumably) Kim.

Oh and the location is simply "Wales" which suggests something...
