£14,000 to spend.

Hey all.

I currently have a Corsa VXR and I think it's time to part.

Once sold, I'll have £14,000 to buy a new car.

I dont earn a fortune and travel ~14,000 a year so MPG no less than 30 really.

I was thinking of getting a fiesta ST. When i have money get the mountune Remap along with a custom exhaust (probs miltek). I think this idea will be cheap to run and fun to drive.

What do you guys think?

You don't state you age, or insurance risk,
There is much more metal available at £14k, not to take it away from the ST which is a fine car.

My girlfriend has an ST2 with the Mountune upgrade pack and it rocks - any excuse to steal the keys!

It is comfortable enough for longer trips and copes well on Aberdeens CRAP roads, it seems well screwed together (although I think the dash and centre console are fugly). It handles like it is on rails too and in comparison it does seem faster than a Corsa VXR (but I haven't driven one in ages so I cant be 100% sure), it certainly puts its power down far cleaner tand holds the road far better though. In my experience it is a far more livable and enjoyable ownership prospect than the VXR.

Im 23, 6 years protected no claims (had an accident last yr not my fault)
Im currently paying £600 for my insurance. I get pretty cheap insurance quotes (I think it's due to my postcode).

Regards to the ST, it does seem very tempting. I'd have to agree, white is a must!

Vx220 turbo. Or you may just get into vxr220 money.
Got 45 mpg in my old turbo doing 70 on the motorway. Over 30 is easy for mixed driving though.

Of the cars mentioned, I've only driven the ST but did think it was excellent. I am personally, however going to pick up something cheaper for now (probably an older RenaultSport 200) and maybe switch to the ST when they depreciate down to around £8-10k, perhaps you could consider that? Let someone else take that initial hit?
