I have a 54 clio. When I drive above 60 the SERV and abs lights come on, and stay on until the car is restarted, and on braking there is a whirring sound. very similar to this http://www.renaultforums.co.uk/archive/index.php/t... with people pointing to reluctor rings as an issue

My question is, is it safe to drive with this problem on the motorway (or at all for that matter).

thanks

Probably best not to drive with faulty ABS.

Drive to mechanic/garage.

You will still have brakes even with an abs light on. The reluctur rings are very common on clios for cracking and causing the abs light to aluminate. You need to sort It out but it wont cause a problem as long as you not relying on the abs system to help you out all the time.

For people who will say about the service light its not an actual service light it comes on with another light ie eml/srs/abs light at the same time.

Common problem on the Clio (and Megane of the same time) My friend had the issue on her Clio, my mum has it on her Megane, the brakes work fine just no ABS (which you shouldn't be using anyway!) so it's fine to drive, and easy to fix!
