Rip off Citroen Service
Discussion
Hi my leased Citroën ds4 2.0hdi d-style 160 manual is due its 1st service and the local Citroën garages are quoting £230 inc vat.
Seems very steep considering my new Golf R DSG will only cost £150.
Can i take this to an independent providing Citroën genuine parts are used and they state this on the invoice???
Many Thanks
Steve

Many Thanks, will this apply to a lease car? Citroen have the log book and my Mrs is only a registered keeperI own a mobile vehicle servicing company and would say that I find about 25% of leased vehicles have it written in to the contracts that only main dealers can service them, but as for all the others then all you have to ensure is the company you use to do the work is vat registered and uses parts of OE quality.
The price you have been quoted does seem very high to me as you're first service should most likely only consist of new engine oil and filter and cabin filter.
If you do have to use them then you can try shopping around different main dealers ( the difference in price can amaze you) and you could also enquire about supplying you're own oil as some main dealers will charge you crazy £ per litre. Euro car parts website often offer the general public very good prices on this.

Have you had a look at your local Citroen dealer websites?
Mrs Saleens DS3 is leased and was due a service and had a quote of just under £200, then I found this offer from the dealer it was purchased from...

That ad doesn't say it but with the 3X MOT's included indicate it is for cars 3+ years old?Mrs Saleens DS3 is leased and was due a service and had a quote of just under £200, then I found this offer from the dealer it was purchased from...

Correct, Mrs Saleens car was used but even not using the 3 MOT's it should still work out a lot cheaper for the servicing I would have thought.
Generally speaking from what I have seen, manufacturers don't tend to offer such service deals on cars up to 3 years old. They take advantage of the car being in warranty.
Most manufacturers let you buy an e.g. 3 year service plan, before 1st service is carried out.
Typically around 3 services for the price of 2. May be worth looking at.
A quick google DS4 service plan:-
All your servicing from a main dealers from as little as £12 per month.
Key Beneifts of a Toomey Service Plan:
•Inflation Proof: All servicing prices are fixed for he duration of the plan.
•Alternative Transport: Free courtesy car or collection and delivery service (subject to availability).
•Free Puncture Repairs: We will repair your damaged tyres free of charge (where legally possible).
•Free Health-Checks:Free 7 point health-checksfor your vehicle whenever you need one.

Block exemption rules don't stop lease companies specifying main dealer only servicing - that's not the same thing as the manufacturer trying to tie you in to main dealers only.
Read the lease docs, it will specify it in there.
Doesn't sound like an excessive price for a dealer service IMO, more like the golf is very cheap. Are you sure that's really all it is? I know VW are doing a £150 minor service deal at the moment but that's only for older cars.
