£10k saloon?

I'm in the market for a 4 door saloon,

main criteria

No estates
No older than 07/57 reg
Mileage under 60k preferably
No diesel
Fast
Well spec'd ( leather,nav etc)
20-25mpg town/city
Reliable

Been looking for a few weeks now, had started looking for a E60 530i but upto now there all looking pretty tired. I test drove a passat cc 3.6l V6 4 motion and was very much impressed with the car as a whole package,

Now before I spend my hard earned on the v6 4 motion is there anything in this category that meets my criteria that iv overlooked or missed?

Possibly - I wonder whether the XF might be a better choice though? Both should be available in the price range.

True bit it could be argued that an XF would be "joining the crowd" too. Mind you this is me arguing that point not the OP!

I'd be tempted to go a lot older than a 57 plate to broaden your horizons.. I'd imagine a top class example Audi RS6 could be had for that sort of money though I can't be arsed to look!

Or, if the "fast" bit of the agenda isn't that important, a Lexus IS 250? Rest of the criteria it should fit nicely.

If the car needs to be 'fast' then the one to go for is the 400bhp Supercharged version, but I doubt the desired 25mpg economy could be realised.

The 3.0L V6 with 240bhp is no slouch and will comfortably achieve 25mpg.

In my experience of that vintage of Jags they all burn pretty much the same amount of fuel under normal driving but the V6s are a lot slower. There are other benefits to the R version as well which are worth having such as better brakes, suspension and usually better equipment specs too.

In my opinion, simply not worth mucking about with the Passat at that money (as good as though it may be).

The CLS with 388 dobbins is a magnificent find.

Don't forget:

S6 V10 (Not sure you'll get 20mpg out of that)
BMW 750i (Lovely engine, looks questionable)
Jag XJR (S/C whine and dirty V8 sound, looks great in black)
As mentioned a post 06/56 E500 with the 5.5litre V8 and 388bhp, plus a through rework making it a really classy and solid motor.
