first time on m25
Discussion
hi guys, this saturday i have my first time driving on the dreaded m25. I'll be driving from peterborough to Staines for a day at thorpe park. i was wondering what the m25 will be like at around 8.30 on a saturday morning and around 8pm for the trip home. im not sure on what junctions i join and leave the m25 but i think i follow the a1 right to St. Albans then take junction 13 off for Staines? any general advice would be great as a noobie im worried. thanks
Use google maps to find out what junctions you need. Traffic shouldn't be bad at those times. Remember to keep left unless overtaking, and keep an eye on your mirrors when changing lanes. It's just a road at the end of the day - you'll wonder why you were even concerned at the end of the day.
If you're confident at navigating get off the A1 at Hatfield and take the A414 then the A405, it cuts the corner off. Shouldn't be too busy at that time of day. Just give yourself good space from the vehicle in front as it sometimes stops unexpectedly.
Don't take it personally if you get cut up

You'll only be on the M25 for about 30 miles. As you approach the motorway head West, it will be signposted for Heathrow. 8:30 on a Saturday shouldn't be too bad. You'll probably catch some traffic around about the M4 junction, which is halfway through your M25 Odyssey.
Anything can happen by 8pm. However, the worst of the traffic should be tapering off by then.
Of course, it's the queues and traffic while in Thorpe Park which will be the most daunting.
You may catch sight of me on your way home on Saturday. I'll be making my way around the same section of the M25 as I'm picking up my 964 targa from the dealers in Southampton and driving it around to the Potters Bar exit. So, if you see a mid blue 964, give me a wave.
Have fun !

It will be hell, and you will be doomed.
