I think a veery smart move. Plenty of companies make public their technology and solutions to problems, as it helps further development. Patents are all well and good but are somewhat inaccesible and tangle up in legal jargon.

If all you are going to do is sell more cars, you'd want to cut costs to generate extra profit. t load more cars to grow revenues.
