I'm not sure that was a whiplash scam as such; it looks more like an idiot driver deciding he was about to miss his exit?

Either way if he was originally claiming the lorry driver was an fault, I hope he got the book thrown at him. Surely he must be at least guilty of attempting to commit fraud?

Looks like the Galaxy in 3 decided that they couldn't stop in time for the traffic queue that was in front of them so swerved to avoid it and went straight into the path of the truck.

What is this 'slow lane' that they mention as well ?

How can any driver just be so, rubbish?

Failure to look ahead and notice the traffic building up, slow reactions. And then trying to a cut across to avoid crashing and slowing down too much/panicking.

This doesn't look like a bogus claims to me, looks like the driver got scared, swerved left whilst braking in a huge panic to avoid going in the back of the pile building up.

Either way lucky he had a dash cam

I think it's the case that the scammers (as opposed to opportunists) tend to put in multiple claims (that's quite often how they are discovered).

I'm surprised there are enough scammers to make a statistical difference. I thought the huge majority of the claims were made by (or on behalf of) people who'd been talked into it by "no win no fee" cold calling.

Yeah, you could well be right. Certainly there are a fair few 'professional' crash for cash scammers. The gangs that are caught are often found to have perpetrated scores of 'accidents'.
