Hi everybody,

I have a 12 plate Fiesta as my econobox daily dull driver - rather than trading this in to get something that covers all bases like a Z4 or a new hot hatch, I'm thinking about just keeping the Fiesta and getting a dirt cheap bit of fun as a weekender/occasional driver.

10 year old Renaultsport models and Civic Type Rs seem to be available under £4k now - any recommendations on which? I'm edging towards the type R as it just seems to have a bit more about it. Deprecation, fuel economy etc. not a factor, all that matters is the fun of razzing it around in this thing for maybe 2-3k miles a year before it conks out. Any suggestions on which to plump for to scratch my itch for something fast and fun?

Thanks!

R53 Cooper s? Not quite as quick as the type R when standard but extremely fun and cheap to mod if you wish. Plus they sound much better than the other 2.

Why would they conk out? What are you planning to do?

Don't buy a cheap nasty one buy a cheap decent one, both are fun capable cars.

My Leon Cupra R might be for sale next month.

265bhp.... Much less than 4k and in very good condition.

Another one to consider.

Maybe they wouldn't conk out, I'm not planning to do anything crazy with them. Just didn't want people to think that I was deluding myself that for under £4k I'd get something that'd be the dogs danglies for eternity without any issues smile

Unless you do something silly with them, like run them without oil.
