Quick Diesel for under 5k

Hi Guys,

I am looking for a quickish diesel for under 5k. I would like to be able to tune it alittle to get some more power out of it.

I used to have a mk4 1.9 GT TDI 110 golf that was tuned to 150-160bhp but fancy a change and something slightly newer.

must have atleast 4 seats
No estates
jeeps suv etc are ok
Reliable
Tuning Goodies

So far i have looked at
Civic 2.2D
Auris 2.2D 180

Anymore reccomendations.

If the 180 Auris is like every other Auris it's about as far away from a driver's car as you could possibly get.

MG ZT diesel I believe has a tuneable BMW engine.

My old TDI is for sale..... down to £4000 now.

Not mine anymore so makes no difference to me lol... Golf Mk5 with 220+bhp and 365lb ft .

Jag XJ,or S-type twin turbo 2.7 V6 200 and a bit BHP standard, can be chipped for more.

Peugeots and Citroens with the same engine - also chipable (allegedly).

Why tune a diesel, they will use much more fuel.

the fastest ones appear to be BMW like the 330d or the 535d

A tuned diesel will not use anymore fuel when driven slowly than a standard one, infact often tuning them makes them more efficient!

Thanks man, went like stink as well... had no issues sticking to the rear bumper of a 2007 Boxster S, regret selling it but it is back up for sale on Edition 38 forums now... I sold it for £6750 a year ago... lol

The Golf is nice but looking for something different although i owned my golf for over 2 years (longest kept car) i just need a change.

If you really have to go for a diesel(?) then the E46 330D is a good bet at least it almost sounds good unlike most!

220bhp is a Golf wouldn't touch a Boxter s.

The video you posted of your old Golf with you doing a short burst of acceleration shows the MPG as 10, 10!!!!

Whilst not on boost it may still give reasonable amount of MPG but if it really drops off that much when you want to play a bit i'd take a standard GTI over that any day of the week.
