Talk me out of a MG ZT V8 260...

Got a phonecall coming my way tomorrow afternoon about a V8 ZT saloon. 2006 facelift model.

Should i cancel the phonecall or are they any good?

The Lazy yank v8 in that setting appeals to me alot..

Well, its a difficult one as they are brilliant unique cars in my opinion, BUT you can get a bmw 330i that's only 30hp down, does the same 0-60, uses a lot less fuel and is lot cheaper to buy. I'd still have one though i havnt helped i know....

I have no first hand experience of them, but try mgrover.org.
PCJ was selling his recently.
They seem to represent HUGE VFM.
I can remember seeing one every day near High Wycombe, rough as a badgers arse it was.
Number plate MG02 ZTT. Thought that was a fab private plate!

Is the whole package good or is it just the V8 lump in the front? Ive always liked the interior and exterior styling.

Clarkson rated the handling at the time. I have never driven one, but always wanted one. There are two excellent forums for these. Some owners seem to have pretty much replaced almost everything at low miles (except the engine). It's not a lot of power for a V8 in modern terms and of course they are thirsty but they sound nice. There are some unique parts in the brakes/suspension IIRC.

Forever intrigued but don't know much about them. Dynamically probably not the most talented car on the road but I guess it's all about the V8...

Replacing because they had broken or to generally improve?

I had one for three years....awesome car
its heavy on fuel and eats rear tyres......that's the only minus points.
its not the fastest car ....but its a great cruiser !

Definately best to buy an already converted one. Dreadnought conversion is about 6k as a drive in, drive out package IIRC.
