Most Car for your £

Not exactly a what car thread, more general, what people thing of as the most car you can get for you money.
Could be a £500 old barge, because it's one of the best cars of it's day at a 200th the price
Maybe a £1M sports car because it's a million times better than any other car.
Maybe it's a future classic which has bottomed out in value, and has bullet proof reliability so could be your daily drive at no cost.

Lexus LS400.

Proper old-school barge with wafty ride, normally aspirated 4-litre V8 and auto box.

Can be picked up for well under shed money. Unlikely to depreciate further.

Superbly well built, way better than the competition. Proper build quality, not just nice textures on the dashboard.

Masses of equipment. And uniquely at this price point, the chances are that everything will still work.

They go on forever and need relatively little maintenance. Find one that has been well looked after and it will keep going long after its rivals have gone to the scrapyard. I have seen two with over 300K on the clock, and many with over 200K.

Parts are expensive, but that's the only real downside I can think of.

I can't think of anything else that gives more car to the £.

EDIT: And RX-8's from £2000 gives you a hell of a lot of car for the money - though at that price it is like playing the lottery!

I'm going to say a Saab 9-5 Aero. It's not even one of those 'cheap to buy, ruinous to run' sort of cars, they are cheap as chips and tough as old boots.

+1 for the 9-5 Aero. My dad bought his new and it is now 9 years old with 160k on the clock. Worth about £800. Bargain.

i think BMW 760 for £10k could be in with a shout
under the skin there is much which is the same as the rolls royce phantom, which at 10 years old still sell for £100k

How about a 2003 66,000 mile A8 4.2 for £4,650 - like the one sat outside here?

I'm going to go with a B5 Audi S4.

£2500ish grand. relative luxury inside, twin turbo silky V6. Quick remap and you've got a luxury cruiser, which is a lovely place to be and sit, with plenty of pace when needed! So much car for the money!

Sure I've seen a 06 plate 7 series BM with a huge spec for sale for about 9K. Looked like a lot of car for the money with all the toys one could need.
