UK - Belgium - Frankfurt - Zurich - epic road route??

As title - I have to drive from the UK over to Ieper in Belgium, then Frankfurt and then to just outside Zurich soon, over the course of a week and then home (Zurich - Essex hopefully in a day). While I'll be in a fairly boring oil burner (E61 525d) I'd still like to take in some epic roads just for the experience.

What would I be mad to miss without having to make an enormous detour?

(Subscribing, as I'm doing Calais to Frankfurt to Ljulbjana to Istria to Italian lakes to Switzerland and back this Summer.)

(ETA that the Stelvio pass seems to keep cropping up in these threads).

The B48 is pretty good, just south west of Mannheim. Don't do it on a Sunday though because you'll be utterly swamped by bikers!

Teknik Museum, Sinsheim.

A5 south of Frankfurt can be good when it's quiet, which isn't often.

A5 from Darmstadt to Karlsruhe varies between very busy and blocked.
They could do with some more lanes there.

A81 South from Stuttgart pretty good. Ok the suburban stretches
around Sindelfingen can be busy, but it usually goes pretty quiet after that.

Avoid the daft Swiss motorway tax by staying off their motorways.
It's CHF40 (GBP 26) per year and no, you can't buy less than a year ;-|

Thanks for suggestions so far, Jim's route looks very good!

I am a bit dubious about getting back in one hit but with an estate I can always have a decent rest should the need arise.

Any others I should include? For reference I'll be staying in Frankfurt for the night so Frankfurt to Zurich (Rickenbach to be precise) will be the day's driving. To top it off I'll be paid 45p/mile for my enjoyment

Here's a section that goes through the scenic Ardennes and follows the N10 which straddles the Luxembourg/Germany border - an awesome driving road that weaves through the picturesque Moselle Valley.
