Anyone else find them interesting and really good looking. I know the Evo II goes for ridiculous money nowadays but it would be a dream to own one. Am sure even hot hatches nowadays would run rings around them but in terms of looks they don't come close.

A clean, black AMG W124 always floated my boat personally. Just seem to have that 'look' that I can't put my finger on but just love...

Your not alone James, definitely something about the styling of older Mercs. My dad still has a W124 in the garage he just can't let go of.


I've always bought older cars, my favourites have been a 1984 Mercedes 300 SE in white with chrome trim. not a classic yet but definitely stood out (mostly because it took 2 car spaces), and a Mk3 Golf Colour Concept (yellow).

Don't know if its because I'm getting older myself but the modern day equivalents don't seem to match the styling of their predecessors. Possibly because the older cars were the ones I idolised over as a kid. Is there a name for this condition ?
