Car advice - better the devil you know?

Right PH guys - a totally un PH car topic but need your advice!

Last August my 9-3 Aero st itself. I've always had bigger cars like Mondeo's Vectra's etc and prefer the drive of them. Needed a car in a rush and bought my 2.0 MK1 Focus. Its done atm 108k and has nothing wrong with it apart from rusty springs which will need changing soon to be on the safe side. Oh and a minor oil leak that I cant find.

Its been perfectly reliable in the 9 months I've had it BUT I've been offered something thats a bit more up my street with a bit of cash their way. Car in question is a MK3 Mondeo Auto. My sister lives in Wiltshire and I'm always driving about so something bigger maybe better and if I'm honest would prefer an auto.

Both cars are sub £1000 but the Mondeo is likely to chuck a big bill. Both cars will offer similar running costs.

I know the Focus like the back of my hand and its solid.

So what would you do. Stick with something you know or something you like?

I'd take a punt on the Mondeo and would say it will be equally as reliable. The autos tend to have had easy lives too.

I dont think either are likely to throw a large bill. Until they rust then it'll be scrapped.

They are so common that parts won't be hard to come by, and will be cheap.
