Best way of finding a car?

Hi all! I'm looking for my mums old 205 to see if I can buy it back for her.
I was wondering if you lot had any tips or hints on how to find a car!
Any help really appreciated, she really misses it.

If you have the plate, run it using this: https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/

Using the link above you can check the status, whether the car is registered as SORN or not, and so on. It's a pretty handy resource, but don't be too surprised if it turns out the car's date of liability is a few years ago - unfortunately, I believe that means it has been scrapped.

You could check on AskMID and see if it's insured, but as far as I know that's only allowed if you own the vehicle and you're checking to confirm that the car is properly insured.

Vehicle details could not be found as it has not been possible to locate the vehicle details, your enquiry cannot proceed and has been cancelled. If you want to check the vehicle record held by DVLA..." any ideas?

Once a car's been scrapped then it gets removed.
