France-Breathalysers Must be carried?

Sunday Times website experts driving advice 20/6/14.All drivers need to carry a kit containing two breathalysers, and certificate.Fines for Non compliance to carry a kit have been cancelled, But A KIT must still be carried----------TRUE--FALSE.?

Most motoring "advice" is rubbish. But the ferry co. will advise you otherwise, because they sell all the crap you don't need.

The disposable approved kits are pretty cheap, and 'interesting' when you're back home and having a drink (without planning driving, obviously).

If you don't carry them, there is no punishment that can be applied so why would you carry them?

Great, more tosh about what you need to carry when you drive into Europe. About 15-20% of the cars I see in Europe don't even have a GB sticker or plate.

It's old news, at least two years old. I have several friends who live in various parts of France. None of them carry breathalysers and a couple laughed their arses off when I asked them if they were necessary.

Indeed, i did around 2000 miles around France a few years ago without any number plates (as a consequence, no GB badge) after some nobber nicked them near Lille.

Nobody batted an eyelid, not the many Gendarme i passed bar one crazy old bat who stopped me on a level crossing shouting about my 'Plaque d'information'

I wouldn't worry about it. I never take any of the stuff you're supposed too. Never ever been checked and I've lived there before
