A mild rant to kick off the day.
I was driving through London this morning and encountered an idiot.
Example 1 (which first alerted me): approaching traffic lights on Sussex Rd. Here
The right hand lane is right turn only and has a separate traffic light (on red). The left lane is for straight on and is green. I'm in the left lane. Mr Idiot is in the right lane and steams through straight on, so wrong lane and ran a red light.
A few minutes later, example 2. We're both waiting at the lights on Brook Street to go into Hyde Park, me in the right lane, him in the left lane right next to me. Here
You'll notice the no right turn arrow on the traffic light. Although it's not clear two lanes go through the gate posts into the park. Usually those in the left lane are turning left just after the gate posts (where the front car in the line is goint). But there's room for both lanes to go through the gates and merge, to go where the white van is.
Mr Idiot is in the left lane and goes straight across, basically switching from left lane to right lane over the yellow box. I pip, he gives me the beans out the window. Further through Hyde Park we end up having a bit of a chat. It becomes clear he doesn't have any idea what he's done. Telling me I tried to push in, coming into Hyde Park. I tell him, I must be able to go straight on because there's no right turn there. His response?
"Yeah, yeah, you in your.... your.... little toy car"
At which point I collapsed in hysterics.
My car is a BMW 1 Series. His car is a (BMW) Mini.
(Poor rant / worst "I own a 1 Series thread ever" / why do you even drive in London etc, etc, etc)

There is a similar situation at the new junction of the A13 at Corringham. Two slip lanes off the west bound A13, with the left hand lane, clearly marked with huge turn left arrows to turn to Corringham, but still there are T*ts who drive up the L/H lane who then go either straight across the roundabout and in some cases even go right on the roundabout to head North! He also ran a red light, again, not realising he'd done anything wrong.
I'd almost prefer someone who does something dangerous and knows it than someone completely oblivious to the fact.

OP I see this kind of stuff most of the time I go out. There is also the old fogie roundabout system which I rely upon and which has prevented many an accident i.e. see old fogie in the left lane, expect them to straighten up the roundabout even though I am sat in the right lane turning right, you know, a large estate car or a TVR, neither hugely subtle and both of which will block their view of the roundabout...

OP, please keep us informed of any other capital-located driving idiocy. But I don't think there will be anymore - this was something of a Black Swan on the probability scale.
I must admit that I find that road marking not set out in a sensible way and tied in with direction signs often put me in the wrong place at a junction or going around a roundabout. One road junction sign and no filter right only signage apart from the road arrows changed from straight on to right turn. The left lane were not helpful in letting me in. OP, in your first example, the lane markings are advisory. If the driver in the right-hand lane went straight on he did not "jump the light" ; he had the same green arrow as did you.
In your second example, is seems odd that only the right-hand lane seems to have an arrow painted on the road. The gates into the park seem a little narrow for two vehicles side-by-side, so I would expect a merge-in-turn scenario to be appropriate.
Today on the M3 was a fine example of an idiot who doesn't know it.
I was in the inside lane and wanted to move out into the middle lane. There was a car approaching extremely slowly in the middle lane who simply refused to move out into the (clear) outside lane despite me having been indicating for plenty of time but I eventually persuaded them. Once there, they proceeded to just stay in the outside lane for ages despite not gaining on me (in fact I was pulling away from them in the middle lane) until someone finally came bombing up behind them flashing their lights. They then returned to the middle lane despite the inside lane being clear.
Oblivious.

You know, sometimes you just have to accept that there are idiots out there. And that you will encounter them. Driving is full of idiots.
I find it easiest to just let them go...either let them get away from me, or I get away from them.

Out of interest, what happened between him steaming through the lights in a RH only lane and the lights to go into the park ?
There is a turn around the Royal Lancaster and into Stanhope Terrace.
People are ALWAYS in the wrong lane around there and you've both ended up alogside each other on Brook st.

Sigh.. why do people feel the need to control others on here... let the OP have a moan if he wants to, its a public forum. If you don't like it, ignore it/go away. Its negative controlling posts and people that make the forums go downhill and people that enjoy using them want to leave.
