Made an enquiry the other day about a new BMW ,they couldn't give a test there and then but said they would ring to arrange.

Got a missed call and message left , but also backed up with an email , quite efficient we would think ?

Opened the email to find a link to a video of the salesman showing the car and it's extras , a couple of minutes tops.

Something I wasn't expecting but pleasantly surprised to get .

Is this a new way of winning over a punter or gave I been missing something ?

Will test on Friday.

I recently went through the car buying process with my Mum and we were really taken aback by the BMW dealer in Inverness.

Every other garage either didn't care, or was your stereotypical greasy salesman in a cheap suit shoving finance deals down your throat before we had even looked at a specific car.

This guy talked us through various options, showed us a few cars, and left us completely alone with them until we came back to him. We drove one and he didn't try any BS and gave us the honest pros and cons of the specific car.

He even said "it is a big decision, why don't you sleep on it and let me know tomorrow what you think". He offered us a 24 hour test drive on the car and a very generous trade in on my old Astra, so after we took him up on this we took the car.

At no point did I feel he was trying to pressure us, and we could have easily walked out without him questioning out\r decision (unlike every other garage we went to).

If I ever make something of myself and can afford something nice, I will be going to them. Seriously impressed, she loves the car.

I have been to this dealer in the past with my old E46 and they bent over backwards to help me when another garage let me down. At that point, all I had ever bought from them was a wheel nut.

I always think that a decent test drive sells a car.

I've had it twice, and I will name and praise.

Four or five years ago, I was looking for my 'perfect spec' Porsche 996/911. I had a very clear idea of what I wanted. Hence, it was three months before I found 'my car.'

I saw it on Pistonheads Classifieds, whilst browsing late one Saturday afternoon. When I saw it, I knew it had to be mine. I immediately called the dealer, a chap called Joff Ward at 'Finlay Gorham' Porsche. It's basically a car sales business that the man runs from his house / farm in East Anglia.

It was around 5pm, but Joff engaged with me and answered all my rather OCD questions on the phone with great patience and humilty, despite probably having to suffer a million dreamers every day of his working week. The killer question for him was 'can I come and view the car tomorrow (on a Sunday?) I told him that, providing it was exactly as described, I would definitely buy the car. Again though, probably something he hears all the time.

He said that Sunday was his day off, and his wife would not be too happy if he stayed at home to receive a punter, as they had a shopping trip planned. I badgered and barracked him, until he agreed to stay at home, cancel the shopping trip, and wait for me to arrive.

True to my word, I drove the 300 miles to his house, and true to his word, he was there. He spent absolutely ages showing me round the car, test drive and everything, until I was satisfied.

I bought the car biggrin but to be honest, despite the car being perfect, we kinda buy from the 'right seller' as much as we buy the right car. He made the whole experience an absolute delight for me, and he is a top bloke to deal with.
