Modern paint / ignorant people. Scratched & chipped car.

It is probably a combination of factors but my BMW 530d looks shocking.
Stone chips are more prevelant than on any other car I have ever owned, added to that the back bumper has been scuffed by other people on 2 occasions and there is some light scratching over the sides of the boot lid, like someone dragged a carrier bag over it.
I am resigned to having the paint sorted out after the winter but guess it will have to be done again in another couple of years.
I am goint to get the front bumper clear wrapped once painted.

Is it just that I am noticing it more on a newer car, or is modern car paint more easily damaged?

Any good tips, other than keep it inside!

Tip for the future, find out what colour primer has been used and order the car in the same colour!

Being a BMW the stone chips to the front will be associated with the standard driving habits of the typical BMW driver i.e. hanging two feet off the rear bumper of the car in front to bully their way past at any speed over 27mph. Hang back a little and preserve the paint finish.

Had to google that one. IME silver/grey cars don't shine up too well, though the xirallic might have cured this. Theyy don't show light scratches as obviously as a black car would. Again, xirallic might have changed this. Sorry, no help at all, but thought I should reply as I'd asked the colour. Now if you'd said black.....

No good, quite a few are down to bare aluminium!
