Park & ride sites closing in Worcester

The park & ride sites in Worcester are to close in September.
They have always been a waste of time, and have never broke even on their running costs, costing local taxpayers a fortune.
Even given this information, I still find myself surprised in these anti car times, that common sense has won the day.
They should never have been built, and were very strongly opposed at the time, along with their bus priority routes.
Are these the first to close, or have other Cities beaten us to it ?

I'm always visiting Worcester and I'd forgotten they even had park and ride. It's a fairly bad place to visit using anything other than a car - the astonishingly expensive £5+ return train ticket from the Malvern's puts paid to any sort of sustainable attempt to visit town, might as well just drove and park in the centre!

Am I missing something regarding this massive traffic situation that the Worcester News keeps banging on about? I've only ever been stuck for ages when they've been digging stuff up. There's lots of convenient parking in town to the extent that everyone just uses their favoured car park and I'm reliably informed that for those who use it, the bus network is tolerable.

The only traffic problems in Worcester are generally caused by the council, whether deliberate or temporary.
The bus network wont be tolerable for long, if it indeed is (I've lived here for twenty odd years, and I've used a bus twice), as most of it is being cut back.

I deliver in Oxford every week, the most vehicle unfriendly place I have ever been to.....when they made up the rules for the place they forgot that delivery vehicles do need to get into the centre, but it seems it's ok to travel all around the town when you could actually just cross over a street to get to the same place......pollution and all that ??... or Brighton!

Traffic at 8am getting into town is prett awful but not bad enough to make me want to get a bus....

Never used the six ways p&r but have used the Perdiswell one a few times. Most use our family gave it was when someone worked in the centre. Used to drop them off at the p&r then continue to work. Pick up at end of day reverse trip. Let's face it could find a service that would duplicate that eg from county hall or wherever.
Occasionally Mrs FiF and I have used it at times when parking in the city will be rammed eg Christmas Market. Other than that hardly ever.
Since the bus pass arrived
never used it and just park in centre somewhere handy for the Hive.
The p&r bus at peak times isn't much faster than the normal traffic as the roads aren't really wide enough for a dedicated bus lane. So it still gets held up on the inward route and is given no priority on outward run.
In short not going to miss it. The traffic would be far better if they got rid of the bus lanes frankly. Plus you have the stupid situation that out of bus lane hours nobody drives in it, except me. Even the beat cars ignore it, woodentops eh.
