Any XC60 owners out there?

Looking at buying a fairly high spec one with just under 100K on the clock. It's a 2009 for a shade under £13k and looks in great condition.

I was just wondering how they take the miles? Are the known to be fairy robust?

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

I have one, fully loaded ex demo, it has the lot, 20" wheels, surround sound, heated seats throughout etc.

Best car I've ever owned, had an Audi a6 before, had more issues with that, and other decent cars.

I've had it for 3 years, nothing has gone wrong, however we've only done 60k in it.

Apart form two sets of tyres and new rear pads has cost me nothing otherhtan regular servucinh at 280£ per year

Solid, reliable, safe, good family sized if a little dull to drive

Which engine are you going for?

Not that familiar with all the engine options as yet, but was thinking of the D5 215.

Great engine, enjoy upsetting the neds in Saxos with the surprising performance

Really like the XC60, volvo sent us a few high end ones over Christmas and despite it being a hideous brown colour it was lovely day to day.

Don't get one if performance matters though, I've driven the D4, D5 and even one with the polestar upgrade and none are exactly quick, but I suppose you're not looking for this type of car to set lap records.

If you are then X5 and Q5 perhaps.

Really? I don't know all the numbers but it felt slower.

Even so, agree with the sentiments RE good car, very safe, nice interior, well equipped, great tech that works.

I had a new one on loan for a weekend. As a family car it was great, kids loved it. My wife liked it, though I think that was partly the driving position as she prefers elevated driving positions.

To drive, it's very likeable. It doesn't mind a bit of throwing about (not with the family in it!) but it's best at 7/10ths, fast cruising rather than anything else. Good on the motorway, great with B&Q runs, and good family transport. I just couldn't get the numbers to work on it compared to some alternatives otherwise I'd have ordered one.

Obviously, that's a new one but I'd happily get an older one if circumstances changed.

wow. £13k seems like a hell of a lot to drop on a 5yo car with prob. only 3 years/50k miles of (not cheap) life left in it. My experience of older Volvos has been an expensive one and, when they go wrong, they are not cheap to fix.

This seems to me the ideal sort of car to buy on a cheap pcp deal or lease - Volvo are doing cheap finance at the moment and there are plenty of brokers who can help out with a deal.

I think I agree with you re the price.

Just leased a Golf R (along with everyone else) and not keen on having two leased cars. With the XC60, just prefer the idea of actually owning it. Not sure if that's because it's going to be the family car or not, but it just sits better with me.

The "new" phase 3 D5 is barely changed from the "old" phase 2 D5 in the pre-2008 cars, new turbo system, revised EGR and newer injectors are the main changes - apart from a couple of small known (non) issues the P2 D5 is regarded as pretty bullet proof, plenty of them are on 2/300,000 miles without any unexpected issues - I bought mine with 122k on it as a "long term" car and the engine reliability wasn't a concern, 100k is often affectionately referred to as "just run in"...
