Could certainly be described as 'special'.

It always makes me cringe when folk suggest 'ring your insurance for advice'. In the majority of cases I've found them to be absolutely useless.

Went with a 'specialist' insurer for my M3 this year. Great on sale but fking useless thereafter. You'll sit on hold for an age whilst their recorded message tells you how great there service is.

Finally got through to and said I wanted a quote for changing my M3 policy to an Alpina Roadster S.

Put on hold again.

Eventually come back and said 'oh I've got you a quote for a Z3M because they look about the same and it has the biggest engine.

Really? fking idiots.

I told her it absolutely wasn't the same (no disrespect). She suggested putting me back on hold so she could have another look. I said ring me back when you've found it.

That was an hour ago. Still waiting!

There's a mile difference between a call centre agent who will renew your policy, add Euro cover or do some computer housekeeping when you move address.

If you really need a definitive answer you need to ask to speak to an underwriter and get the call recorded or even better get a confirmation letter.

I don't need specialist information. I just want a quote!!!

They profess to be a specialist broker and chirp about how all their staff are petrolheads.
They then ask if my M3 is petrol or dieselrolleyes

I phoned twice yesterday, pressed 1 for sales (who are the decent staff). Even though I wanted a quote for a full year every time I gave my details they said I was an existing customer as so had to have my quotation done by customer services (who are exactly the opposite) which it where it rapidly went downhill.

I'm think i'm stuck with them as i'm 8 months into a policy. Considering the service I may just say sod it, cancel and go elsewhere.

I may try and ring as Joe Bloggs to get a new quote and at least that'll give me an idea of what they would charge.

This is why elsewhere I pay more for business that will guarantee their service. I don't know of any brokers that offer this. Suggestions?

I can recommend Livingstones Warman. I have been with them now for about 4 years - first time ever I haven't changed every year.

Thank you, I'll look them up.

quick Google shows they've merged with a larger group back end of 2103. Hope that hasn't changed the setup. Will give them a ring later. A geographical number is always a good start!

I know from reading on here it isn't always other people's experience necessarily, but I have always had great service from Adrian Flux with modified 'classics' - well capris anyway !

Although I have never had to make a claim with them (or with any other insurer - I count myself lucky)

Funnily enough, as I read the OP's post I actually was assuming from the experience that he was with Flux. smile

I've been speaking with people at ClassicLine recently and they seem very promising. They certainly seem to have a good understanding of the weird and wonderful.

I went with Classic Line last year.

Lady on phone was very sensible and very helpful.

Agreed value and keen price too.

Renewal due in about 6 weeks - let's see how it goes.
