Witnessed an accident. Should I offer to be a witness?

Both drivers being aggressive, impatient tts at a junction but the driver in front brake tested the driver behind and the driver behind failed the test.

I would have stopped but they decided to exchange details and angry words on the junction with double yellows all round. Yeah, I could have stopped and walked back half a mile in the rain.

I'm sure I could still submit my details as a witness via a local newspaper.

That said, the "victim" was being a tt and going through the hassle of courts etc to get the money back will teach them for being aggressive and impatient.

Thoughts?

Look at this way.

If someone brake tested you. Would you appreciate others coming to help your case.


That is your answer.
The world would be a much better place if those who saw something stty happen actually spoke up.
(Instead of - Not my problem. The OP is probably insured etc etc )

I see the OP's point. I've only seen one accident that I elected not to speak up about. I saw an old man in an Escort move further and further over onto an Arctic in the next lane, totally unaware what he was doing. In the end the wheel bolts of the arctic tore a nice hole out of the bumper of the Escort who moved back over after he felt it and then both carried on.

Actually, I saw the same thing about 10 years later except the Arctic saw the other car (a Volvo this time) trying to push in and came to a stop, the Volve kept going and just drove into him. No damage to the truck.

If in doubt, you should always stop but sometimes people just get what they deserve and there is no need to draw that process out further.
