Return for Exagon Furtive eGT

So it seems 2014 is the year for the return of the oddball sports car. We've already seen the comeback of the Trident Iceni and now there's another blast from the fairly recent past: the Exagon Furtive eGT.

It's a French car, in case you hadn't noticed

The eGT was originally slated for production in 2012 but there doesn't appear to have been any significant changes for this car from the 2010 concept. The paint is different but the styling is fundamentally the same, with hints of Fisker Karma and Artega GT in its design. Some clue there as to its age...

Power is up to 400hp from the Siemens electric motors with Saft lithium-ion batteries. Using a carbon tub and aluminium rear structure means the eGT should be fairly light. A 0-62mph time of 3.5 seconds is certainly very quick and, er, exactly the same time as was was claimed for the car back in 2010.

Exagon (no, the French haven't omitted an 'h', that is the company name) is very proud of the eGT's interior. Each will be made to order and 'an object of a fine-tuned customisation programme'. The company's founder Luc Marchetti has said "We have the same approach as jewel-makers to high-end manufacturing and bespoke craftsmanship". Certainly there's no mistaking the eGT in this 'interieur rouge' spec for anything else (apart from what looks like an old RS4 steering wheel).

Monsieur Marchetti has also said "every eGT made so far has been created specially for its owner" which would imply it's on sale and customers are ordering or have received their cars. But there still isn't a price for it. However, given it will be displayed at the Hurlingham Club 'Salute to Style' next week (tickets from £49 to £198, sir) we will stick with our assumption of fairly expensive.

Haven't heard of this before, for some reason. Have to say though, as a styling exercise, both inside and out, it knocks most of our stuff into a cocked hat. Can't really criticise 2010-ish styling when the Noble M600 is essentially a revised version of the 2004 M14 design, the Ginetta G60 is a 2004 Farboud GTS with some bits stuck on and Farboud's current effort looks like it was designed in about 1996. On visuals alone (which is all we can judge here) I'd say this is right near the top of the pack.

Can certainly see the overtones of Fisker design language/Aston Martin-y rear.
Very pretty.
They need to release a more conventional model to compliment the EV IMO

Really? It's only got two air vents and doesn't even have electric seats in an err, electric car... It's no Pagani in there!

Interesting looking.

I challenge the first car maker to engineer a car that can build a chassis/construction which can take a V8, e-motor, hybrid system or both.

That's when it will get interesting. Advanced hybrids are the way forward in the short term IMHO. Fully electric too flawed, although showing it can be brilliant, but one dimensional.

this company still smells funny, lots of use of photoshop and little detail and late deliveries mean we are probably chasing a dying startup here. tesla are looking a much better bet with their 2 models. Its probably a fair bet that teslas 3rd model will look similar to this.

I think you are bang on, the roof line appears identical. Although probably fibre glass panels that get adhered plus paint e.t.c
