Just PM'ed you. I dont keep cars very long, got the MG running perfectly and done the classic car thing now. Time for a Jag XK8 and tick that off my list.

What would happen if you give your PayPal details? Assume they collect the car and pull the money?

If any money hit your account, the transaction would likely be reversed later when PayPal realised the funds had come from a stolen account or a pinched credit card etc.

They pay from a hacked account, or send made up emails to make it look like they've paid. But they overpay, and then try and get you to send the overpayment to a Western Union account.

You realise these scam emails are deliberately rubbish right?

They act as a filter to save time for the scammer.
The only people who reply seriously are so dumb that a rip-off has a much higher chance of success.

If they sounded like a proper buyer then everyone they spammed would reply and they would spend ages trying to weed out the sensible ones.

It's actually quite clever!

I had the reverse plot a few month ago , car north of Aberdeen , cheap , enquired about it and he emailed back explaining he had been posted to Dublin but was willing to deliver the car .
I told him to keep it there and my Irish mate would pop down as he lives just outside Dublin and appraise the car for me , if it's ok I'll forward him the money for you, as he's a policeman I trust him completely to handle the deal and he would be able to store the car at his .
I'm still waiting for a reply , I don't think the seller trusts me .
