Van Hire for European Travel

I'm looking at hiring a van, 3.5t Sprinter/Crafter size, to take my stuff to Czech when I move out there.

So far the best price seems to be about £315 for 3 days inc. all the necessary European extras.

Just wondered if anyone was familiar with any good hire companies, with decent rates etc. and could recommend one?

I'm in Uxbridge but am happy to drive a bit to pick up as long as I can leave the car at the depot.

Have a look at Jafvans who aren't too far from you. I've used them plenty of times and always been pretty happy with the service.

I used Loughton Self Drive frequently. Taken a couple of their vans over to France & Germany and all been good.

They're an independent and a great bunch of guys; hence why they've always had my repeat business.

Given them a shout. Although they're not on your doorstop, they're not far either. They're just outside Debden Station on the east end of the Central Line so pretty easy to get to.

At those prices, it might be worthwhile checking prices in CZ and getting a cheap
air flight out there to pick up a van.

That way, CZ gets the profit and not UK. Also, CZ will have Euro travel as standard.

Just an idea.

Do you really envisage yourself picking up a LWB Sprinter van, loading it up, driving it from London to the Czech Republic, unloading all your gubbins upon arrival and all that goes with that, and driving the thing back to London in 3 days?

Checked them out and most seem to be in a similar price range, with varying levels of excess etc. Once I know exact dates I'll get proper quotes.

Had thought of that previously. I suppose it depends how I want to do it. Might be a good option, will have to get Mrs Johnny to check further. Pretty sure prices were ok last time we thought about it. Hmmm, she could come with me to help load up as well...

Yep, exactly that. Pick a van up early. An hour or 2 to load up, 15 hours to get there. An hour or two to unload. Some sleep.

Gives me 2 days spare in case of any issues and to get the van back.

I'm not taking that much, there's only so much you can get in a a Sprinter.

Had lots of vans from J and R in Chesham. Gated (overnight) parking for your car and decent prices. Think I paid an extra tenner for euro-insurance so worth checking - Some places don't allow it, others it's included and others an optional extra.
