There was a load of petitions about this for a while, the idea was to make it easier for local councils to organise road closures for events.

ie, it's a pain to organise a road closure, and the MSA started a petition to make it easier to close the roads.

Brilliant news for us, however I'm not sure how many events may happen due to groups like Brake and more localised NIMBYs who will complain at the merest hint of some racing near their homes.

That is the sad reality of it. Unless of course the government just grow a pair of bks and tell these deadbeats to deal with it.

I don't particularly care what happens at weekends, but from someone effected by last Monday's race closing busy roads during the week is wrong in my opinion. People should not be stopped from going about their lawful daily business.

Guess that makes me a nimby, moaner, deadbeat etc. etc.

No, not many - in fact, the only one I'm aware of is the Jim Clark Memorial Rally in the Borders.

Ireland has different legislation and has many of them. It doesn't require an Act of Parliamant to close roads over there.

A TT style event in Lakes would be amazing, I'd happily go and spend tourist money in the area to see that.
