i.e. after a service or good valet it feels better

After a sound thrashing it feels a bit like you have done it irreparable damage and you feel a bit guilty, but it feels fine the following day.

On a cold morning it feels a bit sharper

A turbocharged car is definitely sharper on a cold morning. Because you have cooler intake temps.

I know what you mean about that feeling after giving it a good thrash. That must be how it feels giving your kid a slap.

Cold air is denser, so it does make a difference.
