A £6000 Nova, really?

Ok 1st of yes i know the amount of work its had done. Yes i can see its all been done to a high spec. But a Nova will never be a real classic car IMHO. Just cant think why you would empty £6000 into this when you could have a raft of other things as a weekend toy. Im i missing something ?

I am unable to comprehend why anyone would spend £6,000 on a watch. But plenty do... Although you don't appreciate the object in hand; you also don't have grounds to judge its value. Why not spend that much on an old car?

I love Nova's, and that is an early car that has had a fortune spent on it. Plus it will be very, very fast.

Well, on one hand, pug GTIs bottomed out a while ago. On the other hand I'm not sure this is quite the same case.

I'm always amused by the number of "not" tags people use in adverts. Surely someone looking for a Nova knows that it isn't any of the alternatives listed?

It does look like a labour of love but surely a low mileage (and that's properly low, not "low for age, ~80k miles" low) Nova Sport 1.3 or even a GSI would warrant that price tag more? It isn't the most desirable colour for a Nova, neither is it a particularly uncommon practice with the swap, regardless of the time, effort and expenditure involved in getting it to the level it's at.

people get deluded into thinking they can get much more of their money back on modified cars than they really can

You haven't missed anything as such but different cars will appeal to different people. I don't like old Cavs but i love Novas, i had 2 during my boy racer years. If i had £6k to hand for a fun car i'd probably buy it. Why? Because i remember how fun they were 15 years ago. If you wanted a quick blat off the lights then it would embarrass plenty of cars costing 5x the price, traction is obv an issue but with an LSD they're rapid.

I actually see the appeal behind it, but you'd have to really want a Nova to spend that much.
And most people who want to spend £6000 on a car don't want a Nova.....

I bet the engine alone is worth £2500-£3000, it's horses for courses, the bumpers are that colour as when they were new they wasn't body coloured, looks tastefully done.

It will probably get a nova nut into it.

The thing is, a lot more than that has been spent on modifying hatch back, up to 30k I have seen, it is very easy to spend money on any car.
I remember as a young driver, leafing through demon tweaks catalogs, building fantasy wish lists.. The bottom lines were riddiculous.

Rest of the car has probably done 200k
