CREE DRLs on my bike, too bright ?

Opinions chaps please.

I'm not a DRL or dayglo fan, I'm of the opinion that if you fit these, the losers will be the vehicles/cyclists/pedestrians without them.

I have to admit though that my opinion has lost the war, the poxy things are everywhere.

Do these look too bright ?

Nah - they look OK to me. Anything which makes a cage driver say "That's bright - what is it?" is good; it makes it much less likely that he'll pull out in front of you.

I'd be tempted to put an LED sidelight bulb in, too, to complete the 'triangle of light' which is supposed to be better for distance recognition purposes.

Definitely worthwhile, they look like they are angled down, so shouldn't dazzle oncomers, but look sufficient to keep car drivers alert.

Definitely angled down, I'm out to dazzle nobody.

I'm not of the "cager" mentality, I doubt they intend to harm us when they set out.

Remember that as you sit on the bike, and accelerate they'll angle up more (depending on how fat you are/hard you accelerate)

I am fat, the bike doesn't accelerate very quickly by todays standards, it is a 34 year old 500cc Moto Guzzi.

It is however a very good point, I've fitted them on rubberised "P" clips, and they can be twisted up or down as I wish, I'll get some friends opinions.

They look very bright - you are looking down on them in the 2nd lot photo and it looks very intense - might just be the camera though?

I wouldn't personally refer to drivers of any kind as "cagers", I think it is insulting.

It isn't my intention to dazzle, that would indeed be counter productive.

These aren't actually type approved for use here, they are from the states, it may be that they need fettling, perhaps some sort of shade for the top.

They seem ok to me, I would suggest they would be better further away from the indicators.

I met a bike with something like these in the dark early hours this morning. First thought was "WTF is coming towards me with three lamps?" but they weren't dazzling, just VERY bright.

Did it make me see the bike any better? Nope, but it roused my curiosity so maybe that makes them a good thing.

Great job you've done there I plan to do the very same thing to my bike except attach them to the mirror stalks.

Type in " 3w Eagle Eye LED " on eBay's search they are dirt cheap.
