Ferrari test drive goes horribly wrong....

Apologies if repost.

Not the first time I see someone completely lose it while driving a Ferrari. I have to ask, hopefully not too stupid a question, why the TC doesn't prevent this sort of mishap (it certainly kicks in well before the wheels start spinning on my BMW)?

Why did the driver apply a heavy right foot inappropriately?

Odds are TC etc will be switched off.

The salesman should have stopped the drive as soon as he saw the drivers hand positions - he clearly had no idea what he was doing!

As soon as the rears started to slip he lifted off, School boy error in a RWD car.
I've done it myself with my first RWD car and you get catapulted back the other way when the tires regain their grip. It definitely takes a bit of practice to stop the natural urge to lift off.

I'm sure if he'd kept his foot in, he'd be hailed a driving god.

First thing I noticed too.

Driver obviously had no idea how to drive, let alone a powerful RWD car. Applying so much throttle mid corner with the amount of lock he had on was only going to end in bad times.

Driver has either never driven anything more powerful than a 1.2 or has always had cars with arse saving t/c.

Are we right in assuming the T/C was off?

I doubt they'd sell many Ferraris if they only sold them to good drivers.

Fairly narrow roads and sliding are a recipe for disaster... In an area like that there is little point in going sideways although by the way he did it I don't think he has driven a powerful RWD car... Ever!

It's not a real 'test drive', to buy the car. They do some of these in Maranello, you just walk up and pay. It's a short hire, with the guy sitting next to you.

Whilst true, I'd imagine this is one of those cars that you can hire from the shops outside of the factory/museum and therefore open to any old punter wanting a good experience on holiday. Wasn't an actual test drive.

The GoPro or whatever camera is the hire companies, you can see in the related videos that the drives must all be recorded and presumably able to be bought...
