Could this be the most British Porsche 911 ever? Well, possibly - it's the 911 Turbo S Exclusive GB Edition. As the name suggests, it's being sold exclusively in the UK, with just 40 examples being produced. For the £150,237 starting price - that's right, nearly £10,000 more than a standard Turbo S, the Exclusive GB Edition comes in a choice of just three colours - red, white or, erm, silver.

What price a black painted wing? Since you ask...

You don't get a Union flag roof or door mirror decals a la Mini, but you do get various splatterings of black including the spoiler, wheels and Porsche script side decals - reminiscent, the press release says, of the original 930 911 Turbo.

It's certainly less garish than the Martini 911 Carrera revealed last month - but with only two of those coming to the UK, you're less likely to see one of those on the roads.

The vaguely British theme continues inside, where you'll find the lid of the cubby box embossed with the Union flag while the chrome dash insert proudly tells your passenger that you've bought the Exclusive GB Edition. It's not overboard, however - with Porsche deciding to stick to embossing its crest on the head restraints. The seat belts are Guards Red, while the black leather features Guards Red stitching. There are no nasty red, white or blue combos to be seen - fortunately.

Passengers will be in awe of your exclusivity, clearly

Not convinced? Each car will be delivered with a personal photo book documenting the production process, as well as a bespoke Exclusive GB Edition indoor car cover and some unique design sketches.

If that's made your mind up, your local Porsche dealership will now be taking orders. Or, y'know, you could actually buy something British.

Why didn't they just go the whole hog and give us a supremely classy Union flag roof. It works so well on Mini's and could have been another bargain option (~£5k I'm guessing?)

Mmmm surely just raising awareness of "Porsche Exclusive".

I'm guessing this is just a taster of how the mega rich could have Porsche do custom paint and emboss their headreasts.

I love the engineering of Porsche but this is just laughable.

Are painted wheel centre caps standard on this model or do you have to pay for them?

Does seem quite weird. Arguably one of the most world wide known German cars, doesn't look right with UK bits stuck on it.

Im sure a few eyebrows would be raised with Morgans or AM's going over the pond with German flags dotted around on the interior.

I disagree.

Its less than 10% more expensive than the standard Turbo S and its much more exclusive, only 40 being made. So when you consider resale depreciation I bet this car is less expensive to own over 3 years than a standard Turbo S.

Does the ownership really matter? I can't see how something designed, engineered and built in the UK is anything other than British.

We've had various Porsche's and Astons in the family throughout the years, I was a bit too young to drive them at the time but I can give the opinion of everyone who drove them and general observations:

Porsche wasn't faultless but was way better engineered. Aston was a great bit of engineering art but the quality was questionable.

Members of the public didn't seem to like the Porsches but at every car park or petrol station the Aston was covered in people, particarly in the car park at the top of the Llanberris pass where people just kept coming up and going on about the noise of the thing.

As a performance car, the Boxster S was regarded as the best and put the smiles on the face.

If it were my money, I would wonder whether the BMW M6 offers just as much as the Turbo but for an aweful lot less.
