Plasti Dip or Frost Liquid Wrap ??

Hi,
Thinking of using the above to turn my chrome wire wheels black and to protect them a bit..

However there are two options - Frost or Plasti Dip

Anyone have any preferance for one or the other?

Are they just the same thing?

I really would not use that on chrome wire wheels for the following reasons:-

wire wheels are a pig to spray effectively as there are so many spokes to coat on all sides, which is also wasteful on paint.

wire wheels by their nature move a bit... so where the spokes meet the rim they will flex, and also the centre, the paint will crack after a while, water will get in corrosion will start, and the paint will peel off.

unless you key the chrome, the paint will flake off quickly and they will look a mess.

I have seen them powder coated to good effect as if its electrostatically done the powder reaches all around the spokes and then its baked. but for good adhesion they need to be media blasted to key the chrome. Even with this they eventually crack around the spoke joints (centre and rim) and the corrosion starts.

I've used the frost stuff on a kit car to cover and protect from bits of corrosion on the suspension - must say I was impressed with the finish, made powder coated wishbones look like new again, nice matt black finish.....no idea how it would do on your wheels, but I would reckon it might not be too bad, but might take a lot of it for coverage.

Thanks for that, its quite cheap so might give it a go.. any info on the differance between the Frost and Plastic Dip?
