Mrs telford_mike had a scrape this morning - she was going round an island and a car which should have given way t-boned her beloved Boxster.

The other driver admitted responsibility immediately, and sure enough Mrs t_m has now had an email from her the guilty party's insurance co offering to take care of the whole thing including hire car etc.

Question: is it standard practice to cut-out your own insurance co if the other driver's insurance co offer to handle everything? Any advantage at all of keeping your own insurance company in the loop?
