I'm talking best car on the market.
Is it the most expensive?
The most reliable (could be dull)?
The most popular?
I really like my Mondeo, and it seems a few other people do. But is this a great car?
What makes the 'best' ?

Exactly. The best car is the one that does what you need/want.

I currently own a Mundano. It's neither the fastest nor the most prestigious car I've ever owned, but right now it ticks more boxes for me than anything else.

Does that make it the best? Yes, for me, it does.

Something that ticks the functional boxes, but also captures my imagination in some way. Often that means something beyond the obvious.

That'll be the 'junior super car' then.

It's faster than your's mate.

The best car is a local car! (my days of taking annual leave to trek around the country looking at cars not described properly are long gone..)

Much like the 'best' woman, there are none for all occasions.

Very much about what your needs and desires are. Some cars are functional, some are aspirational, some are just fun to have.

There are cars I would love to own, say a Jag XKE, but just never got there.I have a huge affection for the Citroen SM, the 2CV,Willys Jeep..all sorts of stuff and have cycled through all sorts of cars, cheap and expensive.

The arguments people have about them are about the differences in the people more than the cars, it seems to me. I cannot begin to define the overall best car in the world.
