It's become a saying, an idiom if you will, that a car has "trolley dings" which are much more likely to have been caused by some stroppy oik and their 14 kids swinging open the door of their hire purchase Ford S-Max with a 1.6l petrol that can't even move the car to a better spot without blowing a gasket.

Or similar.
