recently bought an MG ZT and the exhaust has come loose - no ramp or such, had a look as best i can with a jack and couldn't fix. Took it to them, put it up on ramp for me, showed me underneath where it had come loose from a bracket - put it back in place - loads of excellent advice, basically needs to be changed (the bit connected to the cat is very loose and lots of play)

Would not take a penny - polite, courtesy and very informative - THANK YOU!

You do get the odd good egg who will go above and beyond to give good service, ive been in with a pincture before to national tyres and autocare and they didnt charge me anything. Also had an AA man stop and fix my car for free whilst i was waiting for green flag to turn up. Im now with AA.

TBH- the lease vehicles I've taken into KF have always had top notch treatment, at the two depots I used.But then at one depot, I had choice of tyre place, and i got to know the managers, although I've had an odd hic cup like rear tyres over inflated. On plus side, we got a replacement van ( not new ) that had one tyre of a different size. Lease co wouldn't authorise a replacement ,their answer was to replace with spare.Manager authorised a replacement from his stock .

I'd hope even the thickest apprentice mechanic on earth could diagnose a loose exhaust bracket. Really nothing to write home about, and there is still no way I'd ever take any of my cars there.

I've had pads discs exhausts and CV boots changed there never had any problems.

AA chaps are excellent. once stopped to try and repair a lighting cable on a trailer that had been dragging. Had some tools, but typically no electrical tape. AA bloke wanders over, reappears with some proper connectors and does the job. Would not take a penny even for a drink. Also noticed them protecting a broken car stuck in Lane 2, presumably awaiting help from Highways/Police. Contrasterd greatly with the previous accident where no emergency vehicles had yet arrived, but a marked police car had not even paused to have a look.l

I don't think the OP is congratulating the workmanship, more the fact that they fixed a simple problem and didn't take the opportunity to try and extort him for it, as most Kwik-Fit garages seem to.

I'd have to be really desperate to go there again.

I went for a tyre change and they tried to screw me and this was by the manager as all the fitters had gone home. It was right at the end of trading for the day.

A firm with that sort of attitude in management doesn't deserve my money.

Indeed sir and thank you for recognising my intention! If anything I used them so I could have a gander under the car on their ramp and they could have tried to get one out of me and they didn't

I've had good service from KF too. I took our shopping trolley Fiesta in for a new exhaust when the original back box parted company with the pipe. Whilst up on the ramp they spotted a broken front spring and mentioned it so me; no pressure to have it fixed there whatsoever. I took it somewhere else, KF Chesterfield may get some repeat business from me as a result.
